June Meeting: Jeane Burgess | 5 Things You Must Know About Publicity in 2026

June 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Whether you’ve published one book or ten, publicity can still feel like a mystery. After spending her entire career in the world of book publicity, Jeane Burgess has learned that it’s not just essential for a successful campaign—it’s the key to expanding the reach of your message and connecting with the people who truly need it. During her time with us, she’ll help us explore 5 Things You Must Know About Publicity in 2026—the essentials that still matter, the areas you can finally let go of. Publicity is often misunderstood, so bring your questions. This talk is designed for authors at every stage—from first‑time writers preparing for their debut to seasoned authors looking to elevate their next release. You’ll walk away encouraged, informed, and hopeful about publicizing your work in a way that feels strategic, sustainable, and true to your voice.

Jeane Burgess is the founder and president of Tall Oak Media, a full-service publicity agency focused on campaign management and consulting for authors and publishers. An industry veteran, Jeane began her career in 1989 as a sales representative for NavPress. This role, coupled with her love for books, led to a career-long passion for supporting authors, publishers, various types of media outlets, and the audiences they serve. This year, Tall Oak Media celebrates 25 years of business, successfully building a legacy of excellence among a select group of publishers and hundreds of authors over the last two decades. Jeane is a proud small-town girl from Welch, Oklahoma,  who loves supporting her community in every way possible. She celebrates her Native American roots through her podcast, Bloodlines: Tales of Indigenous Women, and as a member of the Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma where she serves as chairman of the enrollment committee. Jeane also works with John 3:16 Mission Tulsa, where she leads a Your Story Matters group for men and women in recovery.  You can find more information at Tall Oak Media.
